Nar-Anon Convention

I spent the weekend at a Nar-Anon convention in another state, and it was spectacular. I had a hotel room gloriously to myslef, with lots of quiet. It had a big sliding glass door that opened out to a beautiful vista. I watched the ocean waves roll and smelled the salty air.

The time alone in the hotel room was as wonderful as the time in fellowship with my Nar-Anon people. My sponsor, my best friends in recovery, and one of the girls who I sponsor were all there. I lead a meeting on the 11th step, and I got a lot of insight into the importance of prayer and meditation to people in recovery. My sponsor lead a meeting on Awareness, Acceptance, and Action, and one of my favorite friends lead one on the 11th tradition. There were speakers, and there was pie. We met new people and heard new stories.

I hadn’t realized how much I’d needed that quiet time and all those meetingsĀ until I had them. It was truly blissful. I crocheted and talked and rested and read and walked on the beach. I want to do it again, right now!
