I just got back from a trip where I spent 4 days with some of the craziest people I have ever met. They were hysterical, loud, outspoken, friendly, easy to get along with and had the combined energy of a major nuclear force. They were also therapists, radio hosts, interviewers, marketing people, movers and shakers, business people and…..were all in recovery. And we’re not talking 3 martini lunches here - we’re talkin’ crack heads, heroine addicts and any other illegal or illicit substance available. All had been there, come through and were now paying it forward.
Each morning we spent working hard at developing new strategies to reach people who otherwise might not find help, finding ways to fund amazing recovery projects here and abroad and making decisions as to which one of us would contribute to this expanding vision of recovery for all. Every afternoon we played just as hard as we worked - some golfed, some went water skiing, or attended an amazing Blue Grass Barbeque and Music Festival.
At night we’d gather together once again, talk a little business, share some of our stories from our past and laugh as only recovery addicts can laugh about those days, and sip milk shakes from McDonald’s.
It was such a gift to be a part of this devoted, energetic, outgoing and compassionate group of people, all with one vision - to spread the word. It made me swell with honor as I took my place among these crazy, wonderful people who live life to the fullest, who are grateful for the very air they breathe, and who work their butts off to keep the message alive.
I also gained 3 pounds. That’s how great it was!

Pffft. 3 lbs. 3 lbs of LOVE! 3 lbs. of GRATITUDE!
Glad you had fun, sweetie. Keep it up and hit the gym. Cya.
Sounds like a great time. Glad you got to experience it. Don’t forget that food can be an addiction, too. (I’m a food addict, I had to say it! :-))
