TSR Update - August 6, 2007

Hello Fellow Road-Runners!

As we get closer and closer to launch, the level of acid in my stomach seems to increase daily. Tums have taken up permanent residence in my purse, and sleep, which has rarely been a problem, is starting to elude me, being overtaken by thoughts of “Will people really like my book reviews?” - “Whose video will we show every week?” - “What if we don’t get 100,000 hits every day?” Since I’m relatively new to the world of cyber communication, these queries are absolutely normal and I know they’re induced by the excitement of actually being able to see recovery in action on the web. I’ve checked out many “recovery” sites, and am absolutely positive that what we are offering at The Second Road is unique, that it will accommodate the needs of the diverse population that will visit it and it will allow one addict to help another addict on a global scale. No wonder my stomach is doing somersaults!

My own personal journey on the road of recovery is probably very similar to yours in many ways, and in other ways, completely different. We all come to this place called “recovery” through our own journey and yet when we arrive, we are all in the same place, aren’t we? We’re just trying to stay clean and sober and live life on life’s terms, one day at a time. If you haven’t watched the first video clip on our site, I invite you to do so. I love what William says about his recovery; “The only way I get to tomorrow is by doing today - not perfectly, not even well, but doing it in the context of my recovery.” This message of “trying” continues to supply me with the hope that actually feeds me each day. It’s kind of a Catch-22 in the positive sense of the term (Ooh! That was good, Ginger!). William’s message of hope is further expanded in his heartfelt description of his own journey through addiction to recovery in his book “Broken”, which will also be the first book reviewed on the site. If you get a chance, I suggest you take the time to read this remarkable story of one man’s journey from darkness to light. I’d love to chat with you about it.

Till next time,
Ginger
