TSR Update - July 30, 2007

Greetings, Fellow Travelers!

Well, Melissa just got back from the annual meeting of The Association of Recovery Schools where she was infused with even more energy (if that’s possible!) to get the site up and running by September (National Recovery Month). As I write this, she and Tina are brainstorming for ideas to connect with people and organizations to help us finance the next phase of the project. I don’t know how many of you reading this know anything about starting up non-profit organizations, but it’s a whole lot more complex than anything I could have imagined.

There will be several phases of the site. The first phase will include such features as:
1) posting comments
2) social networking
3) life skills focus
4) your own personal page
5) crisis mitigation (a professional term for when you need
serious help with things “get tough.”
6) expert of the week to share experiences/skills
7) Daily living (stuff to help with just getting through the day)

All the computer gurus have been doing their “thing” and I saw a screen shot of the website last week. It’s amazing that something that was once an idea in someone’s head can morph into a real, tangible entity that one can see. Why can’t I do that with chocolate? Now, is that addictive thinking, or what? At least it’s focused on something that isn’t that bad for me - and it’s legal!

This week we’re compiling all the information we’ve received from our last three conferences and will be continuing to link up with national personalities and organizations so that one click to The Second Road will put you in touch with everyone and everything you ever need to keep you on the road of recovery!

Later, Gator (I gotta go get some chocolate!)
